I Dreamed of You

Jun
I dreamed you were a sturdy tree.
Your leafy branches shaded me.
Your roots were thick and strong and deep.
There all my secrets I would keep.
I dreamed you were a wild red rose.
Your fragrance tantalized my nose.
Your thorny stems had many pricked;
Yet to my hands, not once, a nick.
I dreamed you were the rolling sea.
Your white-capped waves surrounded me.
You safely washed me on to shore;
My faith and trust in you endured.
I dreamed you were the rising sun.
We kissed as my day had begun.
Your warmth was constant, bright and true.
My love for you, each day renewed.
From blade of grass, to distant star,
If I should dream, then there you are.
My dreams make it abundantly clear.
It’s you that holds my heart so dear.
